Ahh, a vanilla bean Affogato, a simple Italian treat worthy of any afternoon, dinner party or just a sweet treat. Something so simple yet so tasty. The original recipe for this is a semi soft vanilla gelato topped with a hot shot of espresso. Think root beer float but for big kids. My version has 2 extra but optional ingredients to *spice* it up a bit…if you know what I mean 😉
vanilla bean Affogato add in’s
The options for this are truly endless, it may stray from the original recipe a bit but to each their own.
Vanilla Vodka: a good vanilla vodka is actually what I use in my version, to enhance that vanilla flavour and give it a little spice.
Baileys: Ah Bailey’s, the classic addition to a spiked coffee, its a classic and frankly in my opinion you cant go wrong with this one.
Kahlua: A coffee flavoured liquor that you can add if you want to enhance the coffee taste in this treat!
Chocolate Gelato: If you’re a chocolate lover or a lover of mocha, chocolate gelato would be a great alternative to vanilla gelato!
Almond Gelato: Almond gelato in place of vanilla would be truly so good. You could also use some amaretto for a spiked version!
Hazelnut Gelato: I personally am a huge fan of anything hazelnut, I think that this combination would be amazing.
